AI Daily — 2026-10-13

Claude Opus 5.5 overtook GPT-6 Astra by 0.9 points while Meta's Muse Wonder ranked only sixth on Artificial Analysis — model rankings are reshuffling fast; Google's GTIG report found 50% of AI-discovered vulnerabilities are RCE-class (vs. 26% for ordinary bugs), with monthly disclosures more than doubling; CyberXero used Claude Code to automate theft of 628,000+ credentials, and the open-source PraisonAI framework disclosed a CVSS 9.8 flaw; a triple-CVE disclosure on an Obsidian MCP server and the open-source reverse-engineering tool REA's continued GitHub trending reign get their own security alert and tool pick; three funding rounds totaling $86M landed in finance and consumer agents today.

AI Agent GitHub Digest — 2026-10-13

morluto/rea (146,406★, +45,495 today) holds the #1 spot on GitHub trending for a second straight day, with an even bigger one-day gain than yesterday. mksglu/context-mode (27,096★) sandboxes MCP tool output to cut context usage by 98% via MCP + hooks. cathrynlavery/diagram-design (52,255★) lets agents draw custom-branded diagrams instead of Mermaid. microsoft/BitNet (40,826★) keeps optimizing 1-bit model inference on CPU/GPU. Agno v3.1.3 lets ClaudeAgent/CodexAgent sessions resume on any replica, run in the background, and replay step by step.

AI Engineer Interview Daily — 2026-10-13: Deep Learning & NLP

Today's Deep Learning & NLP rotation covers four core concepts: self-attention scores relevance with a Query/Key dot product and uses it to weight the Value vectors, at the cost of quadratic compute in sequence length; causal masks and padding masks solve two unrelated problems — one controls whether a position can see the future, the other controls whether padding should be attended to at all; subword tokenization (BPE/WordPiece) solves out-of-vocabulary words by falling back to known sub-word pieces, though tokenizer fertility still varies by language; and RNNs vs. Transformers boils down to a fixed-size hidden state that has to carry information forward step by step, versus attention that can reach any position directly. The practice question is a classic architecture question: GPT only uses the Transformer's decoder, relying on causal attention for autoregressive generation — the breakdown threads 'why half the architecture is enough' through to 'how KV caching makes inference fast' into one complete reasoning chain.

Funding Alert: Catalyst Raises $30M Seed, Sequoia Backs Retail Trading Agents

Catalyst closed a $30M seed round led by Sequoia Capital to build agents that turn natural-language intent into executable trading strategies. The signal: wealth management is shifting from giving advice to agent-driven "intent to execution," and early-stage round sizes are now rivaling traditional Series A rounds.

Funding Alert: Mistlabs Raises $26M Pre-A, Huaqin Co-Leads Consumer Agent-to-Agent Play

Mistlabs closed a $26M Pre-A co-led by Luminous Ventures and hardware contract manufacturer Huaqin Technology, launching Ambi — an AI that thinks ahead and is designed to let different users' agents negotiate with each other. The signal: when a contract manufacturer co-leads a round, it's staking a claim on future wearable hardware, not just betting on the software.

Funding Alert: Vesta Raises $30M Series B, Total Funding Hits $85M

Vesta closed a $30M Series B led by Conversion Capital, bringing total funding to $85M. The signal: when lenders themselves put money into their AI agent vendor, it means agents have graduated from peripheral tools to core financial infrastructure.

Product Builder Interview Drill — 2026-10-13: Metrics & Analytics

The easiest trap in a Metrics & Analytics interview is letting the interviewer hand you a metric that sounds reasonable — like average session length — and immediately jumping to 'how do we raise it,' instead of first asking whether the metric itself is right. Today's drill is a real case-study question: 'Netflix wants to raise average session length. Is that the right metric?' The framework is a three-layer metric tree (north star → input → guardrail) paired with a vanity-metric three-question test — does this number rising actually mean users got more value, can the team explain and influence what drives it, and is there evidence it connects to long-term outcomes — to expose how 'longer session length' can just mean users couldn't find what they wanted and kept scrolling (decision paralysis), not that they're more satisfied. The case is Atlassian: for Rovo's enterprise search, the team defined their north star as Query Success Rate (QSR) — whether users actually found what they needed, blending clicks, dwell time, and thumbs up/down — and treated relevance as a guardrail metric, instead of optimizing directly for search volume or query count. That's the live version of today's lesson: don't mistake activity for value.

Security Alert | Three Flaws in an Obsidian MCP Server — Cross-Vault Takeover and a DNS-Rebinding Bypass

obsidian-tc — a 163-tool, multi-vault-native MCP server for Obsidian — shipped three GitHub Security Advisories on the same day: CVE-2026-77366 (CVSS 9.9), where tokens aren't bound to a vault so any valid token can read, write, or delete a different configured vault; CVE-2026-77363 (CVSS 8.8), where the Streamable HTTP transport skips Origin/DNS-rebinding checks, so under the documented loopback default (auth.mode: none) a malicious web page can grab full vault access; and CVE-2026-77364 (CVSS 6.5), an information disclosure bug. All three are fixed in 1.3.1. Defense: upgrade now, stop using auth.mode none, and verify tokens actually carry a vault claim.

Tool Pick|REA — let an agent understand any software without its source code

REA is an open-source MCP server that wraps native-binary, JS/Electron, .NET, and APK reverse-engineering backends behind one interface. Install: npx rea-agents setup. It solves the problem of wanting to build a feature you've only seen in someone else's app, with no source code to learn from.

AI Agent Arxiv Digest — 2026-10-12

An AppWorld/WorkArena audit finds verifiers that pass broken work: 21 of 23 flagged WorkArena cases were confirmed to have written wrong data yet still received Pass; SpecGuard uses Lean 4 formal verification to prove a task's description and tests contradict each other before the agent ever acts, detecting up to 72.8% of conflicts and formally certifying 51.1% on poisoned SWE-bench tasks; MemoryAgentBench's 'selective forgetting' score turns out to have 67 multi-hop questions whose gold answer the benchmark's own stated rule cannot reach, yet a zero-learning baseline that just follows that rule still scores 80.25%

AI Daily — 2026-10-12

Zenity disclosed AgentCorruption, an attack chain on AWS Bedrock AgentCore where a single prompt can laterally compromise every agent in the same account and region; the same day, Sierra and Meta launched the Personal Agent Protocol, an open identity standard — but it only addresses external verification, not internal excessive agency; OpenAI's internal model produced 722 math papers now facing backlash and retractions from mathematicians; Mistral Large 4 (1T-param MoE), Manus's $500M+ raise, and OpenAI's $1.4T valuation talks all landed the same day; China Telecom's TeleAgent passed 1.5M users, and India will publish an AI regulation paper within 30 days.

AI Agent GitHub Digest — 2026-10-12

morluto/rea (96,754★, +25,585 today) tops GitHub trending after a one-day surge, wiring agents through MCP into Hopper/Ghidra/IDA to reverse-engineer native binaries and JS/Electron apps with evidence instead of guesswork. mhtsec/ARTEX (3,121★) is a third-party backup of the project that placed first on overall score in Baidu's "agent+" red-vs-blue competition, letting an LLM agent run penetration tests autonomously; since Oct 7 several vendors have reported misuse, so it is covered here only to explain the risk, and we do not recommend installing or using it. zhongerxin/iPhone-use (2,983★) lets Codex drive a real iPhone over USB. rociiu/talorys (719★) deploys a personal agent into your own Cloudflare account with one command. Pydantic AI v2.55.0 drops Python 3.10 support.

AI Engineer Interview Daily — 2026-10-12: ML Fundamentals

Today's ML Fundamentals rotation covers four core concepts: diagnosing the bias-variance tradeoff from the size of the train/validation gap rather than reciting definitions; why L1 regularization's constant gradient pushes weights to exactly zero while L2's shrinking gradient only approaches it; how cross-validation strategy has to change with the data (StratifiedKFold for classification, TimeSeriesSplit for time series, Nested CV when you're tuning hyperparameters and estimating performance at the same time); and why AUC-ROC and PR-AUC can tell completely different stories under class imbalance. The practice question is a classic that recurs across Amazon, Meta, and Google interview loops: a model's AUC-ROC is high but precision is low — what's going on, and what do you do about it — and the breakdown threads 'what to suspect first' through to 'why you switch from the ROC curve to the precision-recall curve' into one complete reasoning chain.

Framework Update: Agno v3.1.3

Agno v3.1.3 is all about bringing external agents (ClaudeAgent / CodexAgent) up to parity with native Agent capabilities: (1) SDK conversation history now persists to the database, so a session can resume on a different machine; (2) background execution, cancellation, and checkpoint-based step replay all land; (3) retries, token/cost metrics, compaction, structured output, and file attachments are added. No formal breaking changes, but "one turn per session" now returns a 409 up front instead of accepting a second turn and failing it later.

Model Card | Meta Muse Wonder

Muse Wonder (API-callable) and Muse Wonder Full (Muse Code subscription only): released 2026-10-12, 1,048,576-token context, $4.00/1M input tokens (cached $0.20) / $20.00/1M output tokens — exactly matching Claude Opus 5.5. Meta's own benchmarks show Terminal-Bench 4.0-AA at 85.6 (Wonder) / 85.5 (Full), both ahead of Opus 5.5's 81.5, and SWE-Marathon at 78.8/79.0 versus Opus 5.5's 74.2. But independent evaluator Artificial Analysis puts Wonder at an Intelligence Index of 52 (9th of 219 models) and Wonder Full at 56 (4th of 699) — below both Meta's self-reported 56/59.0 and Opus 5.5's 58. This is Meta's first frontier-scale release since its August 2025 AI reorg, and the two checkpoints split capability asymmetrically: Wonder leads on AutomationBench and GDP.pdf, while Full leads by a wide margin on JobBench, Vals Finance, and MemoryBench.

Model Card: Iris-3B

Iris-3B: published by Sperid Labs on 2026-10-07 (arXiv 2610.09450), a 3B-parameter pixel-space diffusion transformer plus a frozen 4B Qwen3-VL-4B-Instruct text encoder, generating pixels directly with no VAE or latent space; GenEval 0.798 and DPG-Bench 86.52 (both at 1024px), matching Qwen-Image on OneIG-EN; but after fine-tuning, monocular depth estimation (AbsRel 0.071) only ties the latent FLUX.2 Klein model, which still uses a VAE, and 4x image restoration (LPIPS 0.292/PSNR 20.68) fails to beat it — the paper itself admits it found no significant downstream advantage from the pixel-space generative prior; weights and training code are fully open under Apache 2.0

Product Builder Interview Drill — 2026-10-12: Product Sense

The easiest trap in a Product Sense interview is seeing a user segment with great-looking numbers and immediately jumping to 'what should we build for them,' without first asking whether that segment is well-served or just stuck with no better option. Today's practice question: Instacart data shows that subscriber households aged 35-44 with kids order more frequently and spend more per order than other segments, but the app has no interface built specifically for them. The answer runs on a user-problem framework (current state → pain point → root cause → opportunity) that separates 'high frequency and high spend' from 'needs are actually met,' then uses a Reach × Underserved Degree matrix to judge where this segment really sits on the priority list — so a segment that already looks strong doesn't get mistaken for one with a big open opportunity. The case study is Airbnb Categories: in 2022, Airbnb rebuilt its homepage search around 56 niche lodging themes — treehouses, castles, private islands — using ML plus human review to sort four million of its six million listings into them, successfully surfacing demand nobody knew to search for. But after Airbnb expanded into Homes, Experiences, and Services as three separate product lines starting in 2023, Category search's single-product assumption stopped holding, and Airbnb retired it in September 2025, reverting to a traditional search box plus three tabs.

Security Alert | One Prompt Hijacks an Entire AI Agent Fleet — AWS Bedrock AgentCore's 'AgentCorruption' IMDS Credential Chain

Zenity Labs calls it AgentCorruption: prompt injection tricks an agent with network or shell tools into querying the 169.254.169.254 metadata endpoint, handing over its execution role's temporary AWS credentials. AgentCore's default role then carries broad wildcard permissions, letting the attacker enumerate and compromise every other agent in the same account and region — reading private conversations, poisoning memory, pulling container images, and reaching secrets in AWS Secrets Manager. AWS moved all newly deployed agents to IMDSv2 in February 2026 and tightened the default role by September, but maintains this is documented, expected behavior rather than a vulnerability. Confirmed across Dark Reading, cybersecuritynews.com, and BusinessWire. Defense: lock execution roles down to least privilege now, and long-term, treat every agent as a cloud workload rather than a chatbot when reviewing access.

Tool Pick|decisionkit — give agents a probability instead of a paragraph

decisionkit is a CLI and MCP server that routes binary/classification/scoring/ranking questions to a dedicated decision API and gets back probabilities instead of prose. Install: npm i -g @adxtya21/decisionkit. It solves the problem of agents burning a full LLM turn on simple classification, with no probability score to automate on.

AI Agent Arxiv Digest — 2026-10-11

MemoType routes each memory and query into one of three types with a learned router before picking a retrieval strategy, accepted at NeurIPS 2026, beating the strongest baseline by 16.18 points of Recall@1 on LongMemEval-M; CogMem separates facts from attributed opinions in a cognitive graph and lets a ReAct agent decide its own next retrieval step, accepted to EMNLP 2026 main conference, with multi-hop F1 dropping 25.61 points once the agentic retrieval loop is removed
