TL;DREliseAI closed a $350M round co-led by Andreessen Horowitz and Bessemer Venture Partners at a $4B valuation — up from $2.2B just 13 months ago. The signal: the AI agents that actually scale into real revenue aren't chat interfaces. They're the ones that eat the back office of low-tech, high-friction industries like housing and healthcare.

What the company does

EliseAI automates back-office operations for housing and healthcare — using AI agents to take over the most tedious administrative work at property management companies and clinics, from leasing and renewals to patient scheduling and insurance verification, freeing up front-line staff for the parts of the job that actually need a human.

The product started in residential leasing: automating leasing communications, maintenance requests, and renewals. This month the company shipped Apollo, an "agentic AI teammate" that can execute any existing task inside the Elise platform, working directly within the systems property teams already use to carry a task through to completion rather than just answering questions. This year EliseAI extended the same playbook into healthcare, handling the full patient journey for specialty physician groups — from the first inbound call through referrals, scheduling, insurance verification, and follow-up.

EliseAI now powers one in six US apartment units, and more than 30 million Americans have interacted with it. In June 2026 the company announced it had crossed $200M in annual recurring revenue (ARR), marking five consecutive years of 100% year-over-year growth.

What this round signals

What it means for the agent ecosystem

The new capital goes to three things: (1) deepening what agentic teammates like Apollo can do, moving from single-task execution toward owning more complete operational workflows; (2) opening a second engineering hub in San Francisco alongside the New York headquarters; and (3) replicating the housing playbook across more healthcare specialties. EliseAI's thesis is blunt: the places where AI agents can actually scale into real revenue tend to be low-tech but extremely high-friction back offices in traditional industries — not the popular general-purpose chat interface.

What investors are betting on

This is the fourth time a16z and Bessemer have invested in EliseAI since 2023, and this round also brought in a pension-fund-scale long-term investor, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan — the kind of capital that typically only shows up once a business model is proven and cash flow is predictable. That shift signals the investment thesis has moved from "does this space have legs" to "can this specific company keep compounding." Bessemer partner Sameer Dholakia joined the board, extending the combination he sees in EliseAI: strong AI research and engineering paired with a deep understanding of how the underlying industries actually operate.

Numbers worth watching

  • Valuation nearly doubled from $2.2B to $4B in 13 months — a smaller multiple than the 3–4x markups some agent startups have posted over similar periods, suggesting back-office automation gets valued closer to traditional SaaS multiples
  • ARR crossed $200M with five straight years of 100% growth — an uninterrupted run of triple-digit growth that's rare in enterprise software
  • Coverage of one in six US apartment units shows that once this kind of vertical back-office automation takes hold, penetration can outpace chat-style agent products

Watchlist status

EliseAI is not yet on the watchlist. Recommend adding it to section D11 (Workflow Automation) with tracking focus on: how fast the Apollo agentic teammate replicates from housing into more healthcare specialties, and whether the ARR growth curve can sustain five-plus years of triple-digit gains — while noting it's currently the only company doing deep vertical (housing/healthcare) back-office automation in a section otherwise populated by general-purpose no-code tools like Make, Activepieces, and Bardeen.

Today's takeaway

EliseAI's round is a reminder of something easy to miss: the fastest-appreciating valuations in the agent economy aren't necessarily general assistants — they're companies that grind through the traditional-industry back offices nobody wants to touch. Going from $2.2B to $4B in 13 months isn't a model breakthrough; it's five straight years of triple-digit ARR growth.
